We are proud to announce the latest version of Usine: Hollyhock.
What a strange name for a DAW, huh? We could choose “Dragoon”, “Atomic”, “Warrior” but we choose the name of a simple and common flower…Sensomusic will always be different…
Anyway, Hollyhock is the synthesis of years of practice in electronic music and live. We have designed, with Yan Le Déan (alias nay-seven) and Martin Fleurent the ideal software to create, produce music and video.
Get rid of the past, Hollyhock has a totally new approach, much more powerful and simpler than ever, as you will discover below.
Usine has been totally rewritten: new audio engine, new interface, new midi management, etc.
Also, Hollyhock is 64,32 bits Windows and MacOSX, with cross-platform compatible patches, workspaces, scripts, templates, etc.
The first public beta of Hollyhock will be available at the beginning of 2013 and to speed up the definitive version we launch a pre-order.
With this pre-order you’ll save 40% of the final price, get 2 years of free updates instead of 1 year, be able to discuss on dedicated forum, participate in product design, post suggestions for the future versions. (For registered users after 1st September 2012, Hollyhock update is free)
A new local network system lets you share your patches with any other Usine session connected to your local network. Each shared patch becomes a remote version of this patch.
Creates now multi machine installation for your set or runs Usine lan party with your friends!
The first big improvement in Usine Hollyhock is about the Rack concept.
This new Rack concept replace the tracks and rack mode and opens some new routing possibilities you won’t find elsewhere.
A device is also a patch (use double click), so you can add, for example, a midi chanel filter for a midi input device or a specific effect for an audio output device.
Lets you see all the routing flow between your racks in a synthesized view. A right click on a rack lets you adjust its level. A double click will open it.
When you create a bus, a new bind control appears automatically in the devices panel.
Now drop this bind on any design control (faders, knobs and so) to assign it to this bus.
Full compatibility with VST’s (Windows and MacOSX) and Audio Unit (MacOSX only).
We plan to include a total compatibility with Freeframe plug-in’s. In other words Usine Hollyhock will be capable to handle flows of video!
A new mini color palette appears in the sub-menu. It lets you quickly change the color of any interface module.
All Usine interface now accept customization. Master and Synchro panel, trace or device panel. You can change color, size and even choose which elements you want to display for the Master and Synchro panels.
Example here with the full version and a small version of the Synchro panel
New trash bin: Drag & drop any patch/rack or devices panel on this trash icon to delete it. As a traditional trash bin, you can open it, (double click) decide to empty it or back up its contents.
This Start page can be displayed when you run Usine Hollyhock and will let you choose the workspace you want to open, run some tutorials or see some demo videos.
New recreate option will open a query window to change inputs/outputs number for the module selected.
Works with all multiple entries modules as delay, audio mixer and so.
New inlets creation on VST/VSTi when you move a parameter. Now only the parameters you need are visible. Really useful to clarify the creating process of your patch.
